About ATTIKA
The story of American power metal
In 1983, vocalist Rob Van War and drummer Jeff Patelski founded ATTIKA, setting out to create massive, powerful US Metal. Based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the band quickly carved out a name for themselves in the American heavy metal underground.
Their self-titled debut album Attika was released in 1988, featuring Rob Van War on vocals, Joe Longobardi on guitars, Dan Rubel on bass, and Jeff Patelski on drums. Produced and engineered by Scott Peters, the album showcased ten tracks of classic American power metal — from the driving opener Blindman's Run to the epic When Cowards Die.
In 1992, ATTIKA followed up with their second album When Heroes Fall, now featuring the current lineup of Bill Krajewski on guitars and Glenn Anthony on bass alongside founding members Van War and Patelski. The album pushed their sound further with tracks like the haunting Hollow Grave and the epic eight-minute Black Rose.
After a period of hiatus, ATTIKA reissued their debut album in 2003/2004, remastered by Richard Ashman. The band then reunited and re-released When Heroes Fall in 2019, remastered by Robert Romagna, introducing their classic sound to a new generation of metalheads.
The reunion was marked by triumphant performances at prestigious European festivals, including UP THE HAMMERS XIII in Athens, Greece (2018) and HEADBANGERS OPEN AIR in Germany (2019).
On February 26, 2021, ATTIKA released their highly anticipated third album Metal Lands — described as "massive and powerful, just as US Metal should be." Ten tracks of pure, uncompromising American power metal that proved ATTIKA's flame burns as bright as ever after nearly four decades.
Today, ATTIKA continues to fly the flag for classic American power metal from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, carrying forward the spirit and energy that has defined them since 1983.
